I am very worried because we recently noticed that my 7 y/o dog has a distended stomach especially after eating. He is an active male of healthy weight and does not seem to have any other problems. We recently noticed that his stomach is swollen especially after he eats. He is still active and has no loss of appetite. He went to the vet Friday where they took x-rays and did blood work. Clear fluid came out when they took it from his abdomen indicating there was no blood at the time. X-rays showed it didn't seem like it was the kidneys and also that there may be something there but it was obscured by the fluid. Just today, I noticed he whines when he lays down and I think he might be having slight difficulties breathing. I can't tell if it's whining or distressed breathing sometimes. He is acting normal otherwise, though, no loss of appetite and still active. What could this be?! I'm worried.
