hello
i have a kakariki parakeet with a very sore swollen eye. the vet says she has an ulcer probabably caused by her getting something in it then rubbing it. She sits with the eye tightly shut and swollen and rubs it continualy on the cage, perch or with her claw. the vet gave us painkilling anti-inflamatory drops (i drop daily) and fucithalmic eye ointment (twice daily). after 4 days there eas no improvemnet. not surprising because of the continually rubbing, so i took her back to the vet and asked if they could do anything to stop the rubbing (a collar, anything). i was just given another painkiller to add (morphine based) 24hrs later and still no improvement. she is not eating or drinking well either, i'm sure she's very drepressed, as well as being in pain she has been brought into a cage indoors away from her friends in the aviary! i am worried she will loose the eye if we dont sort it soon. any advise would be greatly appreciated. thankyou
