Hello, How old is your dog? I also recommend that you take your pet in for some nursing care if you are unable to do it while you are at work. I would also recommend them to start your dog on some i.v. fluids. If your dog is not eating or drinking it is going to become dehydrated and hypoglycemic, which it seems it already has. You also have to contend with electrolyte imbalances. A dog that isn't wanting to eat usually has something going on. Were radiographs of the abdomen performed? I would recommend that to determine if there is an obstruction of some kind. ie: a foreign body, tumor etc. There are also medications which can be prescribed to stimulate the appetite and settle the stomach. Those should also be considered if there isn't any vomiting. If vomiting is occuring then medications should be given injectably so that your pet can utilize them. I agree with Matthew in saying that you need to consider nursing care and if your Doctor didn't recommend it maybe his/her facility is not equipped to handle intensive nursing cases and he might be able to suggest another clinic that is. I would also suggest trying Vanilla Ensure. If your dog is able to keep fluids down it is an excellent source of protein and has the electrolytes and sugar your dog is missing. You can warm it up in the microwave. We also suggest Gerber #2 baby foods such as turkey, beef, and chicken flavors. Those can also be warmed up in the microwave and given to your pet. I wish you the best of luck and keep us updated. Andrea
