Diarrhea in Six week old kitten

Rating: 0

I adopted a six week old kitten from a shelter two days ago. He weighs 1.5 pounds. When I took him home they told me he had diarrhea and gave me two 25 cc's worth of Albon. I finished the supply today and he seems to now be constipated; he didn't have diarrhea like he did when we first brought him home but now he is not going much at all and when he does go it is still runny. What worries me most is that his bottom is red and seems irritated, he is sitting awkwardly and seems uncomfortable. I have a feeling that this is just him adjusting to new food, and still dealing with the stress of being in a shelter and then moving to a home; but I am not sure if it requires medical attention.

Also, I was wondering if there is anything we can put on his bottom to allieviate some of the irritation.
