Sick Cat

We have a 14 year old male cat who has been throwing up every day for the past couple of weeks. When he throws up, it sometimes contains hairballs, sometimes it is partially digested food or just liquid. We have been grooming him daily as well as at least twice a week giving him Laxair. Could you please advise what we need to be looking for or any other symptoms? (When we contacted our vet, he recommended the grooming and Laxair, but things do not appear to be getting any better.)
