1 year ago, my dog was vomiting & it was found that he had a ball of grass in his stomach that he couldn't pass. I saw the xrays & it looked like a ball of yarn. He had surgery to remove it. Exactly 1 year later, he starting vomiting again. We took him to the ER at 3 a.m. Within 5 mins. of looking at his xrays, the doctor was talking surgery again. This time it was not a ball of grass but I could see the strands of grass in the poorly taken xrays. She mentioned surgery again & financially, unless it was life or death, we couldn't afford the additional $3,000 surgery. Intravenous & $1,000 later Rudy went home. The doctor sent us home with canned dog food - Perscription I/D Canine - to give him 1/4 cup per day for 3 days. This a.m. is his first day that he should be on dog food. I had not fed him yet but when I let him out, he started nibbling grass! My first question: Is there a way to stop him from eating grass? My second question: We normally feed him Benefuls Healthy Weight Control dog food - should we change him to a canned food? If so, what kind? Thank you for your help.
