lump - possible abscess?

My dog was seen at the vet today about her lump on her hind quarter. The lump is huge and really soft in some spots and really black in the soft spots. The vet did a needle biopsy and said she has bacteris inside and she's on antibiotics. My concern is she has a small open wound on it and it sometimes oozes and bleeds. Should I be concerned it my burst and if it does is it dangerous?
