Our chihuahua has what appears to be a rash all over and it's making her very itchy. Just noticed it this morning as blotchy red areas on her stomach, but we think it is other areas too. Is there a home remedy for this, like a small dose of benadryl? We don't think she ate anything unusual nor had contact with anything that she normally doesn't.

Advice on lump on dog's face (2nd opinion...
Posted on 2009/03/26 by UserMy 4 year old dog has a small pinkish bump under her chin (< 1/2" round, photo attached), showed up about a month ago. During her annual check-up her vet eye-balled it and said he'd have his assistant contact me with a quote to surgically remove it. The quote came in at $1200!!! I was floored, still am. She was spayed and had laser removal of dew claw as a pup...much more invasive, for just $200 (at a different vet). I asked for a secondary quote for needle biopsy, which came in at $250...with a caution that it was 50/50 odds on whether sample would actually tell them anything. I'm taking her to another vet for a second opinion, those fees seem extreme to me....

Excessive licking

Is this OK? I don't want to take my dog to the vet for "licking air" but it's so excessive I am starting to worry. Another worry is that he has a "goose honk" cough. It always happens after he drinks water but I was told that it is normal. But now he does it when he's not drinking water. It only happens like once a day, but I don't know how many times a day it should happen before I should start to worry. Since he is a Maltese, he used to have tear stains from his eyes, they...
