We have a 13 year old male Maine Coon cat. He has been very healthy up until a week ago. We just recently bought another Maine Coon kitten (5 months old) and brought her home. Our older cat has been very lathargic, throwing up, and losing weight pretty rapidly. We are taking him to the vet today. Could the kitten have given anything to the other cat or is this something very serious?

My cat Alfie
Posted on 2009/11/21 by UserMy 5 yr old male cat is yowling, uncomfortable, has vomited 2x today. If you rub his side near his hips and low on his belly he complains more? His ears are warmer than normal and his nose is still moist but again warmer than normal. He was fine this morning. What can I do to make him more comfortable? Movement seems to be an issue.

Diarrhea & Vomiting
Posted on 2009/11/22 by UserMy dog started throwing up two nights ago, some foam, some food and having diarrhea. Yesterday he was fine all day until about 9 or 10pm... Then he started getting diarrhea again. What is wrong with him? Is there anything I can give him?

One of our boxers is sick.....
Posted on 2009/11/24 by UserWe have 2 boxers. Twix started chemo last Wednesday and we were advised to not let him pee where our other boxer Kenya uses the grass. Friday night she got really sick and was throwing up, not eathing much and not drinking much. Same sort of thing on Saturday but only threw up once or twice. Sunday she was totally normal, normal energy, ate normal, drank normal, then yesterday is back to being tired, quiet, not eating or drinking and threw up twice. Could this be from her licking Twix's penis now and then and getting some of the toxins in her body or do you think it is something else inside her or a virus she has picked up?

Is this parvo or just a sick best friend?
Posted on 2009/11/24 by UserI adopted a dog (3 yr. old shih tzu, female) about a month ago. Suddenly she's eating her own poop and vomiting. Sometimes she strains as if she has to poop and nothing comes out, sometimes she strains and a small blob (like raw liver) comes out. I have never seen a dog with parvo, could this be symptoms of it? I recently lost my job and don't have money to see a vet right now, but if its parvo I know I have to do something. Sometimes she will throw up (clear or light yellow mucus). It's never her food that she throws up, and I recently witnessed her eating her own poop ( which really smells terrible). Are these symptoms of parvo?

Does Our Cat Have Stress?
Posted on 2009/11/25 by UserHi there, I have a cat whom we are guessing is about 4 or 5 years old. We have moved locations with our cat 3 times and are starting to notice unusual changes in its habits. Abers, our cat, is starting to bite himself to the point of excessive hair loss, he also has been losing excessive amounts of weight and not being his normal active self . We have tried compensating by feeding him both wet and dry food and it has helped some. In the past day we have discovered that Abers has bitten the end of his tail to the point of blood literally coming out over all the walls and carpets. You should also know Abers has not had his shots at all. As well, Abers lives in a house...

Hi, our chihuahua has been puking since yesterday and today had bloody diarrhea. She's drinking some water, but not eating and now her face is very swollen. She ate some turkey and bones on Thanksgiving and I'm worried that could be the cause. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Cat with cancer then scar tissue after...
Posted on 2009/11/30 by UserOur 10 year old cat had a cancerous tumor removed from his colon about 7 weeks ago.He seemed to recover well & we were following up with chemo every 3 weeks. Well, about a week ago he stopped eating/drinking and noticed he was walking differently. We were then feeding him gravy through a dropper until we decided to take him to the emergency vet. His blood work was perfect but the x-ray showed a mass buildup around the surgery site.We think it was scar tissue.Vet told us he could do exploratory surgery but couldn't guarantee that our cat would have enough tissue to connect everything again. We then decided that the best thing to do for him was to put him down. It's...
